HorsesThe focus is on horses that are used for leisure activities because these represent the majority of horses kept in the Nordic countries. The requirement is for horses that are calm and adaptable to a wide range of situations as well as safe to handle for people of varying skills and experiences.
Horses vary in breed (e.g. Finnhorse, Icelandic horse, Danish, Finnish and Swedish warmblood, Fjord horse or Shetland pony) but also in sex, age, and previous experience. The experimental horses will be kept in matched pair groups within each farm. Horse groups are spread across the Nordic countries to improve the external validity of the tests. |
